About Us
The Suffolk Branch of NARPO is open to all retired police officers.
Whilst the vast majority of our full members served in the Suffolk Constabulary we also welcome officers from elsewhere who have retired to live in Suffolk. Existing Full members of a Branch can also apply to become a Member of the Suffolk Branch. Serving officers may also apply for membership prior to retirement.
Retired police civilian support staff or any other person who has had a long standing working relationship with the Constabulary can also apply for Membership. To apply, click HERE or contact the Branch Secretary (see Contact Us) for more details. At the start of 2023 the Branch comprised over 1,200 members. The national headquarters of NARPO is based at Wakefield.
There are many benefits to being a member and the weekly cost for Membership is much less than the cost of a second class postage stamp (click here and find out for yourself) - and newly retired members of the Suffolk Police Federation actually have their first 12 months NARPO subscription paid for by the Federation!
Since January 2008 there has been just one Branch of NARPO in Suffolk, an amalgamation having taken place involving the three former branches of Ipswich, Lowestoft and West Suffolk. The Branch is managed by a committee of 16 members. This comprises the chairman, secretary and treasurer and their deputies plus the Branch Welfare Liaison Officer, who are elected at the Branch Annual General Meeting in April each year. In addition, each of the three Areas (Northern, Southern and Western) is represented by its chairman, secretary and one other elected member of their committee to sit on the Branch committee. The Branch committee has overall responsibility for all activities within the branch but specifically for all policy, financial and regional/national representative matters.
Within the Suffolk NARPO Branch there are three Areas: - Northern, Southern & Western - with their own Area committees whose main responsibilities are to arrange social events in their local areas (but available to all members) and to meet the welfare needs of the members at a local level. If you would like to become involved in your Area Committee or at a Branch Level please contact your Area Secretary. To find out who is on your Branch or Area Committee, log into the Member Area and navigate to "About" > "Contact Us".
Our aim is to support the welfare, social and information needs of our members. Details of how this occurs can be found under the relevant tabs.
Your feedback is important to us as we head towards the future. Please contact us with your feedback.
