Password Security
Many of us have now embraced 21st technology and use computers of one form or another on a regular basis. They have become so much of some people’s lives that hardly a thought is given about the need to ensure that the device used and information accessed is kept secure by means of a password difficult to hack.
We all know that they are a bit of a pain to remember and that tends to be why so many people use the same password for every transaction. This is exactly what the people who regularly hack other people’s accounts love – not just the same password but very often simple to break as well. Using 123456 or ABC123 is easy to remember but it is also very easy for the hackers.
Most organisations now recommend that any password should be a minimum of 10 characters long, which should include UPPER and lower case letters, numbers (e.g. "numb3r5") and other characters (e.g. "@th3rc^4r4cters!").
We are conscious that to access the ‘Members Only’ section of our Suffolk NARPO website, you need to use a password. That is initially your NARPO membership number but after that first occasion we strongly recommend you to change your password to something that is only known to you and should meet the minimum 10 characters criteria as recommended above. This can be easily achieved after logging in to our website, clicking onto the ‘Member Area' tab at the top of the page, followed by ‘My Profile’, ‘Edit' > 'Update Your Profile’. Once changed, just click on ‘Update’ and remember to then use your new password every time you log in to the website.
